07/03/2011 - I'm going to have to transition us over to the new server tomorrow, I got almost no sleep because of job-interview-nerves and I'm shattered.
The job interview went well, hopefully soon I'll be living in London ^_^
06/03/2011 - The New Dedicated Server is up and running now! I have a job interview in London tomorrow so I don't have the time to get us across onto it tonight, we will transition over tomorrow evening or Tuesday during the day.
03/03/2011 - Five days since I paid and still nothing but bullshit answers from the support teams. It's really astonishing how bad all these server hosts have been. This is our 7th host and technically they suck more than all the others combined - they can't even get us started!
We're still on the VPS for now. But I find it promising that we can get 20 unique IPs at peak times even during the shit we've gone through. Thanks to you, the players, for sticking it out!
01/03/2011 - Nothing's gone wrong on the new dedicated server yet because, three days after I paid for it, it's still not even up and running. Here we go again?
28/02/2011 - Still on the VPS, just setting up the new dedicated server which we'll hopefully transition onto tomorrow.
27/02/2011 - We're still online on the VPS, I've ordered a new dedicated server from 1and1.com. Hopefully be up online with it tonight or tomorrow.
25/02/2011 - Back online.
25/02/2011 - There's some terminal faults on the host's side as usual. I just messaged them with "what's the excuse this time?"
Today I'm going to a wedding, so wont be getting our 7th host in 2 weeks up and running until tomorrow (Sunday).
GoDaddy.com have actually proven themselves to be an absoltely terrible host. The dedicated server I wasted £50 non-refundable on is still downloading the UOAOS.exe installer that I started on Tuesday, to give you an idea of just how shit they are. I've lodged 5 different support tickets with them and I'm still waiting for one to come back that's of any use or not trying to sell me something.
25/02/2011 - Lo and behold, constant disconnections on the VPS, what a surprise.
I'm actually going to buy another dedicated server this weekend with a host my boss recommended.
24/02/2011 - I'm going to bring us back up on the VPS for now.... again. Until I can get the new host figured out.
The recent save was bugged so we're warping back to last Friday, but really that's like a 2 day warp considering how much downtime we've had.
6 hosts in 2 weeks, you'd think one of them would've sealed the deal!
24/02/2011 - I got a reply from the support team today and all they did was try to sell me a more expensive package, I don't think they even understood the question.
23/02/2011 - Before we can get the shard running on the new dedicated server I have to download the Age of Shadows installer. Before I can download the Age of Shadows installer I need the upload/download ratio to be changed, by the host, so that I can get better than 4kb/s download speeds!!!!
So far I've been downloading the installer for 27 hours and it's about 50% done.
I'm hosting our dedicated server with godaddy.com and their unbelievably poor support department aren't obliged to reply for up to 72 hours after a support ticket has been made, and their online chat representatives are from Bombay and don't even know what I'm talking about.
On top of everything else the actual shard files are now bugged and wont work anyway.
I've spent every minute since returning home tonight working on the problem and got nowhere. I'm going to bed. The shard wont be up until at least tomorrow, if not later, I just don't know. The only thing that's out of my hands is going horribly wrong, again and again and again and again... infact this is the sixth server we've tried. I'm probably the most enthusiastic person in the world, but we're nearing the point where I just give up and go on a shooting spree or something.
22/2/2011 - Remember to use this login:

We're temporarily back online using the VPS. The new dedicated server will be online within 24 hours.

We're going to be running off of the VPS still for now, but I've purchased a fully dedicated server now. Unfortunately:
Because the VPS shut down the server with the latest information on it, there'll be a warp back to Saturday.
21/2/2011 - I have officially ended our contract with the VPS host. We'll unfortunately have a three day warp And we wont be back online until tomorrow. I'll sign us up on a dedicated server instead of a VPS this time.
Here's a copy of the bullshit correspondence I've had with the host:
My reply:
21/2/2011 - A message to the host from me:
21/2/2011 -
19/2/2011 - Back on the original VPS for the time being because, get this, even though I told the host to shut down the original one they shut down the new one instead. Incredible. So now we're back on the old one, which isn't doing too badly so far. Still looking for new ones and trying to get back the money I wasted on the rubbish VPS I ordered earlier!
19/2/2011 - Ok so I've been attempting to get a new VPS working all day now and, even though I do this as a day job, I can't seem to figure out what the fuck is going on with that thing.
When I logged on, everything was set to Austrian settings, yes Austrian, I imagine they didn't bother with a full refresh after their last client used it. So I've asked for a refund and I'm back to searching.
Really I'm thinking now the first VPS to offer a genuinely competitive service might end up dominating the market like Google or something they're so bloody rare, lol.
19/2/2011 - I've had a lot of trouble transferring onto the new VPS I've bought because - as you all know - the one we're currently on disconnects regularly, and now I'm having unusual problems I've never encountered before just setting up the website and game on the new server.
The new server is hosted about 5 miles from my house so I might go down there and kick some asses.
The job interview went well, hopefully soon I'll be living in London ^_^

We're going to be running off of the VPS still for now, but I've purchased a fully dedicated server now. Unfortunately:
It may take up to 24 hours for the server option to appear in your account. Once this option appears, the following steps will help you to configure and activate your dedicated server.
Because the VPS shut down the server with the latest information on it, there'll be a warp back to Saturday.

We've checked and we didn't shutdown 109.234.194.184 at all today, there was simply a connection problem on that server.
As far as 93.174.138.23 is concerned this server should have been removed as per your request in the other ticket (ticket number 2453). We are just confirming this with an engineer and will update this ticket when we have a response.
Kind regards

We can confirm that 93.174.138.23 has definitely been removed as per your previous request in ticket number 2453

My reply:
Even though I could access one and couldn't access the other when I checked on both Saturday and Sunday? I guess your service is so amazingly unreliable I couldn't tell which server you'd shut down and which you'd kept "operating", although given that my users were playing uninterrupted on the one you'd "shut down" and I couldn't even remotely connect to the one you'd kept running I actually find your replies a little hard to believe.
Is there any refund I can receive for the remainder of this month? I want to cancel my service immediately.

21/2/2011 - A message to the host from me:
On Friday you guys asked me which of the two servers I had been operating on I'd like to keep and I specified that I'd prefer to keep the new one (109.234.194.184), but you then shutdown that VPS - I wasn't able to remotely connect to it or anything - and kept the original VPS going (93.174.138.23).
I figured that was fine, the only reason I wanted to keep the new one (109.234.194.184) was because I happened to be running my game on it at the time. But since the original one (93.174.138.23) was online I thought you must have just got the wrong one, so I switched to that and my game's been running, without interruption peculiarly (until 12 hours ago), on there since Saturday.
Now I report that the VPS (I was referring to the original one: 93.174.138.23) has been down for 12 hours whilst I was at work and, when I try to remotely connect to the original one we'd been running on (93.174.138.23) I can't get connected. And when, for the hell of it, I try to connect to the new one (109.234.194.184), which I thought I didn't have access to anymore, it's working and there's the ping you setup... I'm kinda confused and just overall really grumpy with your service.
I'd prefer to keep the original server though now (93.174.138.23), since that's the only one with any up to date information.

21/2/2011 -
Please accept our apologies for this downtime, we were unaware this had happened.
Your server seemed to have lost connection to the internet, there was no log on your server to indicate why this had occurred so we are unsure why it happened.
We've setup a ping to google from your server which we would request you keep open as this will confirm the network is connected.
If you have any further problems please do not hesitate to contact as soon as you can.
Kind regards
