Tavern Night!

Hello Realm!

I'm still relatively new so not many of you know me but I am hoping to remedy that. Though I haven't been at Factions very long I can see that there are some great things going on and an active group of citizens.

A little background about me:
I have played UO for a long time, as I'm sure that most of you have, and I had a shard that I called home for quite a few years. Unfortunately there was an apocalypse that left it all but unrecognizable and the family that was formed there scattered to the wind. There are still a few people that I am proud to call my friends. I have some really fond memories of Tavern Nights and hearing the silly stories and gathering together before a newbie hunt or rushing to save a town (or a n00b) from an onslaught.

Anyway, long story short, I always found myself sticking around a shard because of the home that I built and the people that were there. That all starts when we get to know those around us and reach out to the newbs to help them get acquainted.

I am going to start putting together materials for some activities and Tavern packs for a gathering that I'm hoping will happen sometime within the next week or two. I'll be taking suggestions for times and donations of materials to be distributed. (Little things, food, veggies, ALE, clothing items, harvesting tools, ALE, bags, cake etc., mainly things that would be helpful to newbs and even fun for vets to munch on *coughALEcough*) I've always been kind of a PR type person in game and helping with events is what I like to do.

Here is my proposition as it stands thus far:

Tavern Night Meet-N-Greet (certain day a week, every week) at
Minoc Bar-N-Grill
Meet'n Packs Distributed
Drunken Llama Races (I will be taking Llama donations pending approval by the Heavenly Powers.)
Boat race/Boat tours/Newbie boat races, ect?
Newbie Hunt w/prizes maybe
Scavenger hunts to help them find their way around?


What I would need:
Positive and negative feedback
Volunteers (fighters to lead the Newbie Hunt afterward and split loot, Crafters to cook and craft, and experienced vets to come visit with fellow members and tell stories!)
Let me know times when you are on the most often -
Busy shard times
Drunks
Llamas
Crazy Drunken Llama riders

Cool, I'll help: A lot of our newer players are French/Quebecois and my french is pretty good (though I'm not sure they'll agree ).

I'll do whatever but I'm not much of an RPer.

That's wonderful, Jester, thanks! And don't worry about RP. RP is nice in its place but I'm not an RP nazi. I like for people to be comfortable and to have fun.

I'm so glad that you know French! Mine is terrible but Rienzi (my other half) is pretty good thankfully.

I'm sure staff could be persuaded to set up a special dungeon for the newbie hunt.

I like the tavern fight idea. I propose 1) mud and 2) wrestling.

I'm glad that the staff might be ok with the special dungeoning but even if there isn't a way for that maybe just some vets taking newbies on a tour of a normal one? This is, of course, in the event that I'm not the only newbie here. Otherwise, I'm ok with serving drinks and watching the fight!
